Soi Buakhao

Soi Buakhao is a monster. It’s two to three times the distance of Walking Street. I don’t really recall seeing any massage shops on Walking Street, but Soi Buakhao has the best prices for massage compared to anywhere else. Some places are 200 baht, and more places are 150 baht.

Outside of that, they’ve got the ladyboy bars, the girly bars, the nightclubs. There’s one nightclub with dark colors that I always see and have never been in. I’ve never seen it open, never seen the lights on. I don’t know what’s going on with that place. They’ve got steakhouses, pizza. New York pizza, man. Tree Town is on Soi Buakhao. They’ve got barbershops, dentist offices, pharmacies. Everything is on Soi Buakhao. I get my hair cut there.

Soi Buakhao really encompasses LK Metro. Soi Buakhao is like the highway and LK Metro is like an exit ramp, an arm of Soi Buakhao. Good thing about it, they’ve got the baht bus that runs from end to end. You might walk down, but I doubt you’ll walk back up, because that’s a walk.

Really, Soi Buakhao is the king of the nightlife to me. It’s like Texas: it’s big, for real. You can’t consume it all. There are cars on the strip, the bus, motorbikes, but people still walk, and you don’t even notice all that. If you get tired of walking, you jump on the baht bus and go further down.

It’s hard to beat Soi Buakhao. All these places are made up of the same stuff: bars, and the bars come with girls. Soi 6 has restaurants, Beach Road has restaurants. But Beach Road is set up with bars on one side, the beach on the other, and the freelancers on the beach. Soi Buakhao has bars and restaurants on both sides. It’s like a main street. Whatever Soi Buakhao means, I’m sure the street lives up to its name.

Out of everywhere, it’s the ultimate. If you want the adrenaline rush, go to Soi 6. You’re going to be overwhelmed with choices no matter where you go, but if you want bottomless choices, go to Soi Buakhao. If you want a different experience, more personal, go to Beach Road.
